HOW THE TEAMS WERE SELECTED
Coaches of all 240 Washington metropolitan area schools were invited to submit All-Met nominations. Selections were made by Washington Post scholastic staff members Mitch Rubin (baseball) and Chris Swezey (softball). Photographs by The Post's Gerald Martineau. The teams were photographed in front of the National Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery. The building, on which construction started in 1836 and was completed in 1867, was long-known as the Old Patent Office Bulding.
